Review of a Car Hauler - Check this all aluminum beauty
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
There are some items you buy for your slot car layout that just capture your imagination. Trucks are one of those items. Trailers are another. Jeff McCleese (JAM) has seized that feeling with his hand made, all aluminum trailer.

The beauty of this unit begins with its design. The one pictured at the right is three pieces. The dolly is the other. The bed, fenders and tongue are all cleverly cut from one piece, and tabbed and bent to complete the uni-body construction. The rack and dolly are held on very securely, and durably, with tabs that bend underneath.

The next aspect is its attention to detail. The fenders and bed, and ramp are very accurate in detail to a real hauler. The aluminum makes for a very nice finish to add your own paint and decals. The wheels are off a Johnny Lightning Thunderjet, and suit it to a tee. Axles are cut from brass rod. (Deduct $1.00 if you have your own wheels, as many of us do, and still get the axles).

This is the most durable and well built unit of this kind we have ever seen! Ok, so, "What would you expect to pay for this excellent, durable, well designed, exquisitely crafted, unit?" This may be the best part of the story. Jeff charges $19, as shown, includes standard shipping. Priority USPS is $4 more. Moms, put this on the Christmas list for that slot car fanatic of yours. This is a must have item. Price drops to $16/ea on orders of 10 or more. A slightly smaller Thunderjet version is also available.

Another of Jeff's talents is painting, and modeling, specifically Petty Superbirds, like the baby blue one picture right/below. Replicas run $75.00 with out a good body (core) sent to him, and $40.00 if you send him a good red white and blue Superbird core. If you send him 3 cores, he will send a Petty replica for nothing.

The modeling is done very nicely. The paint on the hood seems to be hand painted, though, and would benefit from being airbrushed (A subsequent conversation with Jeff assures that the paint is airbrushed, and that the one he sent me was only for my purview).
