The doors of the Cinnaminson Community Center opened early on Saturday, October 16^th. The tracks were set up and the racers started filing in and setting up their pit space.

The first thing veterans of the Shoot Out noticed is that all of the tracks were different from prior years. Five new tables and new layouts were constructed since last October. They may not all have been thoroughly tested but the rules committee listened to last year’s racers. Two of the tracks were not ready for racing so Team Fandango tackled the Wiztrack to get it ready with JJ. Graybeard and Chris were already under one of the lock and joiner tracks looking for the electrical gremlins.

After 3 hours Team Fandango said the Wiztrack was ready for practice and Paul Graz lent his talents to find the electrical problems on the L&J track. Although the L&J track was electrically sound it still wasn’t race ready and it was decided we could run the event on 4 tracks, the Wiztrack “KC Weasel”, one Tomy “2003 Red Track Redux” and the remaining 2 lock and joiner tracks “Octorara Mole Hills” and “Mercer Flats”.

Racers continued to arrive and were amazed at the sight of all those tracks!

Practice continued until 1:30 and it was time to start the individual event. The racers choose to run on the Wiztrack and Yensid’s Octorara Mole Hills. Two totally different tracks with one long and fast and the other being short and twisty, a challenge in either respect.

The format was 3 minute round robin heats counting laps and sections. The results from both tracks were added together to determine overall standings. Congratulations to all who participated.

Yes, in the middle of the pack is the 1962 Ford Aurora National Champion Henry Harnish (http://www.henryharnish.com/high/index.htm). Henry said “It’s the first race he has lost in 42 years”. But he had a good time. I think Henry ran his 1000 laps in practice and had nothing left for the event.

Prizes were awarded and tracks were available for practice until 7. That’s right eleven hours of racing t-jets.

Sunday we started again bright and early. Sunday’s format was round robin with each team racing the other team. This turned out to be a great format with an odd number of teams. This provided a half hour bye for a little rest and some food.

The racing began at 9:30 and ran until around 2. The team results were:

Team Fandango, Aurora All Stars, Bigstuff 2, Jersey Longhorns, Team Nostalgia, Team BigStuff and Team Jersey Devil Racing.

The day ended with the presentation of the hokey-jokey jackets to Team Fandango and door prizes were handed out.

As you may have already read everyone had a great time and enjoyed 2 great days of t-jet racing.
