Race #3 of 4
Scott Dunlap's Ontario H.O. Motor Speedway
October 27th, 2001

I may not have been present, but I was there in spirit. Based on my chat with Scott this evening, it sounded like all 17 racers present had a roaring good time, with great racing and good food, plus plaques for the top 10 finishers!! Scott's track is very much built for Tjet racing, with long straights, big sweeping corners, increasing and decreasing radius turns, a series of esses and tight corners as well. He also did a bunch'o'work on it to make it quite the smoothie for this race.

Consi D was up first, and at the bell, it was Gary taking top honors - followed by Lee, Scott and tied for 5th - Allen and Hawire.

The C consi was on, and this one went to Gene, with Mickey and Rothwell finishing on the same lap with Gene, and just a little back was Rob.

The B consi followed. Mike E won this one by a lap over Ty, who was two laps up on young Michael H, then Tony R.

Last up was the A consi. Rick J took this one by a couple, followed by Francis, Eddie T and Glenn M.

Time for the Semi's. Semi B had Mike E. line up with Lee, Ty and Scott. The first heat went down with 7 laps for all, but in the second heat, Lee pulled out an 8, with the rest trailing. Heat 3 saw Mike and Ty answer back with 8 as well, and the last heat was another round of 7. This brought up ties for 1st at 29 between Mike and Lee, with Mike just taking the win. There was also a tie with 28 between Scott and Ty, with Scott just a few feet ahead.

Semi A was up with Gene, Francis, Gary P. and Rick at the grid. The first round went 7 - 7 - 7 - and 6, with Francis getting the short straw. Round 2, and Gary pushed it for an 8 lapper, with Rick and Francis at 7, and Gene taking the straw from Francis. Heat 3 was was a 7 lapper for all, and the final one was an 8 for Rick, 7 for Francis and Gene, and the straw for Gary. First went to Rick by one lap over Gary, and one lap down was a tie between Francis and Gene.

Main Event Time!!
In the main:
Lee Tipps
Rick Jocham
Gary Patton
Mike Engelage

The main heats were increased to three minutes, and the first heat was a big 12 laps for Mike! This wouldn't be the only 12, but it sure put him in the lead quickly. Following Mike were Rick with 11 and Lee and Gary with 10. Heat number two was 11 big laps for all, so we had a tie for third between Lee and Gary, with Rick up one in second and Mike up one more in the lead. The third heat was up and now Rick cranked up the volume and produced the only other 12 lap heat, bringing him into a tie with Mike for first, follwed by Lee and then Gary. The last round was all Mike's, as he slammed the door on Rick with an 11, Rick turning 10 with Lee and Gary. Winning the race with a total of 45 laps was Mike Engelage, for a
three-peat!! Second went to Rick Jocham one lap down with 44. Third was Lee Tipps with a 41, and Gary Patton came up one lap short of Lee at 40.

Plaques went to the top ten finishers:
Mike E
Rick J
Lee T
Gary P
Scott D
Ty B
Francis M
Gene B
Michael H
Mickey H
