QUALIFYING

Ryan Hendrickson opened qualifying with a strong 113 lap performance.  That mark stood until his father Dave, up second to last, easily topped it with 119 laps.  Mark Burdick, fresh off winning last February's T-Jet 500, grabbed 3rd.  4th went to Jeff "Hoss" Phoenix.  Kevin Hendrickson followed in 5th.  Matt Metcalf had his best ever lap total and his best qualifying performance for quite some time in 6th place.  Dave Vanduzer, competing in his first PRR Major, finished 7th.  Rich Centurelli grabbed the final transfer spot.  Scott Walker experienced mechanical troubles early in his run and could not recover.

4th Annual Spring Is In 250 Final

Dave Hendrickson took the lead at the start and pulled away.  Ryan Hendrickson looked to have the speed, but he also had the jitters.  At the end of the first segment Dave led Ryan by 3 laps, with Phoenix literally only inches in front of Burdick, both being a further lap down.  The race spread further in the second segment and Dave continued to pour it on, while Ryan continued to make mistakes.  Phoenix finally managed to break clear of Burdick and lead him by two laps after two segments.  After a little coaching in between segments, Ryan found his feet again and began to mount a charge to the front.  In the third segment he closed the gap from seven laps to four.  At the same time Burdick was on a charge of his own.  He reduced the two lap deficit to Phoenix and then passed him for 3rd spot.  In the final segment Ryan continued to close the gap, but Dave stopped the bleeding and held on by a little more than two laps.  Burdick experienced troubles and fell back allowing Phoenix to grab the 3rd spot back for good.
