| The real Taka-Q Toyota 89C-V | |
| In about 1990 Tomy released what some consider some of the best-detailed HO slot cars ever produced, the EX Primus series. By the time Tomy was done, it had released 19 different cars. Two different classes of cars where produced. The first six were Group-C cars and the rest were Formula 1, all on the Super G+ chassis. We will cover all these cars over the next few months but we will start with the first six. | |
| | | | At the top of the back is a vinyl decal. This decal came in two flavors. One had a large Shell in the middle with AFX HO scale racing on each side. The other had a large AFX in the center and TOMY King of Racing Cars on the left and TOMY Feel the Heart of GP on the right. Inside the case the car was covered with a lightweight clear plastic cover. Covering the whole case was a clear Plexiglas top to keep the dust out. On the underside is the Japanese paperwork. | |

| | | | | The #63 C-9 car was the 1989 Le Mans winner powered by a V8 engine and driven by Mass, Reuter and Dickens. Nicknamed the Silver Arrow because of its silver paint job with black details. The Mercedes C-9 team dominated the European Group-C series in 1989 by winning 7 of 8 races. The Tomy replica is a beautiful silver and black with nice bodylines, vent, and louvers. The rear wing sits high and looks great. My only complaint is the car sits a little high on the chassis. | |

| This was the winning car of the 1988 Le Mans race. The real one had a V12 engine and was driven by Lammers, Dumfries and Wallace. Tomy had released this car earlier but without the Silk Cut livery. Instead Tomy used AFX where the Silk Cut logos were supposed to go. Gorgeous purple and white paint with yellow highlights make this slot car a must have. The detail is first class. The body does sit a little lower on the chassis then the Mercedes so, a better all around look. | |
