Team Petaluma. l-r: Joe Wray, Bob Marketos, Mark Daniel, Shane Mitchell, Perry Boaz, Bill Lee.
Before there was a Fray, there was a Petaluma/Ferndale Invitational. Twice a year these guys would get together and "Race For the Shirt", a T-shirt trophy. The series ended with a two win advantage for Ferndale after eight races. In 1997, Rick Phillis approached Bob Marketos, and the Fray in Ferndale was born.

The first year Petaluma came in second to Ferndale, their only defeat in the Qualifying rounds. But for the next two years, Petaluma extracted their vengeance by going undefeated, and having their names carved in the plaque. Last year Petaluma didn't show up, and so there place on the trophy was taken by the SoCal Team

This year they are back, and they are ready. They quite well understand that the level of competition is highly evolved over just one year ago, but they seem primed and ready for anything.

The team consists of:
Perry Boaz
Mark Daniel
Bill "the General" Lee
Bob "SlotcarBob" Marketos
Shane Mitchell
Joe Wray

These guys have extensive duty in big races and Fray style spaghetti tracks, so they won't be dealing with the pressure of newbies. They know who's coming, and they know what they have to do.

The team will be working hard at Petaluma Raceway in the coming weeks, to refine tuning and setup techniques and trying to sharpen driving skills. This years Fray is expected to be the fastest ever, and they wouldn't want to take any of these great teams for granted.
